I hope all of you are having an enjoyable and rejuvenating summer. Hopefully, everyone will return highly motivated and energized.
As educators, we entered this profession because we wanted to make a difference in the world by improving the lives and futures of our children. As such, we are constantly honing and perfecting our craft. I am reminded of a quote by Frederick Douglass: "It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."
We must intensify our focus on improving literacy and mathematics instruction to ensure every child has a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, and learning processes. Additionally, we must work with state and county leaders to ensure we have the funding to provide all students with the resources they need and deserve.
Our family members and community partnerships are an integral part of our community network. It takes teamwork in order for us to be successful as a school district. We will continue our partnerships this year with Abakidz, Bergen County Community College, the Englewood Recreation Department, the City of Englewood, the Hanban-Confucius Institute, The Zone: Bergen Family Center, and the Thurnauer School of Music (Music Discovery Partnership), just to name a few.
I would like to thank the Board of Education for entrusting me with the leadership of the Englewood Public School District. As Interim Superintendent, it is my job to make sure you have the resources and support you need to serve the students and families.
My best wishes for a healthy and successful year!
