Dr. Leroy McCloud Elementary School Health Office

School Nursing is a specialized practice of nursing, which protects and promotes student health, wellness, and disease prevention. Located in the school’s health office, the School Nurse combines health care and education, facilitates optimal development, and advances academic success.

Although parents hold the main responsibility for the health of their children, the primary mission of the Englewood Public School Nurse is to promote and enhance the educational process for children and youth by assisting them to improve or adapt to their health status.

The School Nurse identifies health and emotional problems that may interfere in the student’s education, and then works with students, families, and staff to ensure all students are safe and ready to learn. Services include but are not limited to, preventive health by providing health education, health maintenance, health screening, necessary therapeutic intervention, and care of sick and injured students and staff. In addition, community resources are involved when needed.

Since September 2001, it has been Dr. Sadler’s mission to ensure that children have opportunities to learn how to make healthy lifestyle changes that they can take into adulthood.
