China Night Concert
featuring Englewood Students and Visiting Students from China
Tuesday, 6/5  7:30pm
Dizzy Gillespie Auditorium / Dwight Morrow High School

The District's Mandarin Program is a model program for schools throughout the northeast.  In fact, it was awarded a Confucius Classroom Award by the Asia Society in April.   The students’ study of Mardarin goes well beyond classroom practice.  It also includes a one-to-one program with a partner school in Nanjing China.
Starting Sunday June 3, the District will host about 20 students from the partner school for one week.  The Chinese students will be staying with local families and attending school with McCloud Elementary School students.

From the Superintendent

May is typically the month when high school seniors select their colleges.  As of May 4, the Class of 2012 has been accepted by nearly 150 different prestigious colleges and universities, including New York University, the University of Michigan,  Princeton, The College of New Jersey, Rutgers and more.  Others of our students will be studying at various technical schools and some are going into the military.  If you would like to know more, here is the college acceptance list to date.

While acceptances are still being received, I am pleased to let you know that our students have been awarded nearly $5 million in academic and merit scholarships, and offers are still being received.

This represents the culmination of many years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice.  Congratulations to our seniors and their families.

Sincerely,
 Dr. Donald K. Carlisle dcarlisle@epsd.org
