🚀 Mission: Soar to Success Has Officially Launched Across EPSD!
On Monday, November 17th, Dr. Hazelton—joined by district and school leaders—ignited a wave of energy across Englewood as we officially launched Mission: Soar to Success, a districtwide movement designed to uplift, empower, and inspire every learner from Pre-K through Grade 12.
Across our state-testing schools, gymnasiums and multipurpose rooms were filled with excitement as students and staff came together for high-energy pep rallies highlighting reading, math fluency, reflective writing, and the power of perseverance. The cheering, music, and school pride set the stage for a year of strong academic growth and shared success.

From start to finish, each rally captured the true spirit of Englewood—unity, joy, and a collective commitment to learning and academic excellence.
Students chanted with rally leaders, teachers celebrated their learners, and entire schools came together to launch this mission in the most energizing way possible.
Dr. Hazelton shared an inspiring message grounded in belief: every student can soar, and every step forward matters. Dr. Hazelton alongside the Curriculum and Instruction Team also outlined the challenges, celebrations, and learning opportunities ahead, ensuring everyone knew they were essential to this mission.

Mission: Soar to Success is a K–12 initiative designed to strengthen core academic skills that directly support success on state assessments and overall student achievement. The focus areas include:
📖 Daily Reading
Building strong comprehension, vocabulary, and stamina—critical components measured on the NJSLA. Weekly reading logs help families stay engaged and informed.
➕ Math Fact Fluency
Weekly timed fluency checks build automaticity, accuracy, and confidence—essential foundations for the multi-step problem-solving tasks on state math assessments.
✍️ Reflective Writing
Daily writing strengthens idea development, organization, clarity, and stamina—skills directly connected to writing performance on state assessments.
Each component is intentionally designed to help students strengthen the academic skills needed to improve performance on state tests while growing as confident, capable learners.
