Assessment Calendar

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to inform you that students in the Englewood Public School District will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) and New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) Field Test this fall.

This statewide field test, conducted by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) in partnership with Cambium Assessment, Inc. (CAI), is an important step in preparing for the full statewide implementation of adaptive assessments in Spring 2026.

Purpose of the Field Test

The field test allows the NJDOE to gather data to refine and validate new test items. It also provides students and educators with an opportunity to become familiar with the adaptive testing system that will be used next year.

Please note:

  • This field test is for research and development only.

  • Results will not be shared with students, teachers, or schools.

  • Scores will not impact student grades, teacher evaluations, or school accountability measures.

  • Participation is required for all districts.

EPSD Field Test Dates

  • Mathematics: November 10

  • English Language Arts (Reading/Writing): November 12–13

Test Format and Timing

  • Students will complete one Reading (60 minutes), one Writing (120 minutes), and one Math (60 minutes) unit.

  • Testing will be computer-based, and all students will use their assigned district device.

  • Make-up sessions will be scheduled for any student absent on test day.

How to Support Your Child

  • Ensure your child’s device is fully charged and ready to use.

  • Encourage your child to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast.

  • Remind them to do their best—this is a practice opportunity, not a graded test.

We appreciate your partnership in helping make this experience smooth and successful for all students. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school or the District Testing Office.

Thank you for your continued support of our students’ learning and growth.

Best,

Dr. Laura Scamardella

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
